Easy-to-use firewall blocks hackers and other unknown threats.

 

System Requirements:
Windows 98SE/ME/2000 Pro/XP. Pentium III 450 MHz or higher. 50MB of available hard disk space. Internet access. Minimum system RAM: 48MB (98SE/ME), 64MB (2000 Pro), 128MB (XP).

A very easy to use and effective firewall, I remember the first time I was told to use a firewall I had no idea how a firewall worked not to mention how to set one up. Just the name its self Firewall was intimidating. 

One day I had some free time and decided to do a search on firewalls and ran across several websites one was Gibson Research Corporation, I found a link to their Shields Up scanning and ran the test, which showed many of my ports open to the internet. One recommendation was a firewall and I saw the name ZoneAlarm a lot.

After downloading the free edition of ZoneAlarm which is for individual and not-for-profit charitable entity use (excluding governmental entities and educational institutions). I went back to the Shields up site and ran the tests again the results showed my system with a TruStealth" rating. This meant I was completely hidden from the internet, I could be online and none of my ports could be found my computer was now invisible to anyone on the Internet. This was about 7 years ago and I have been a true ZoneAlarm user since.

Not only does ZoneAlarm block access attempts to your computer but it will not allow transmission out of your computer without your approval.
